sick....

Levi was coughing really bad yesterday, and it just kept getting worse and the medicine didn't seem to knock it out. I didn't want him to be in school coughing on everyone all day, so this morning I let him stay home. He slept in until about 9am. Then he got up and has been laying in the chair ever since. He has napped off and on all day. I've been giving him medicine, juice, and cough drops. Poor Baby.

Seth was so excited to have Levi home today...but was very disappointed that Levi doesn't feel like playing. So here he is entertaining himself with some Playdoh.

Camo boys

Here are my little boys, all decked out in their Camo. Aren't they adorable. They got matching camo hats from bass pro. :)

camping trip

Here are a few pictures of the boys "pre-haircut", from our camping trip a few weeks ago. The weather was so perfect! Mid 70's, no wind, beautiful!!!

Seth, making a funny face. :)

Levi, showing off his home-made maraca. haha. He filled his juice box full of rocks, and was shaking it, saying it was his instrument. :) I cut his hair the next day...he was getting shaggy...see his "after" picture in the post below this one. :)

haircut

I cut the boys hair about a week ago. It made Levi look so grown up! Here is a picture of Levi and Daddy, all ready for school and work. I thought they looked so handsome, I had to have a picture. :)

Bean Pie

Have you ever heard of "Bean Pie"? When my Daddy stopped by on his way home Monday, he brought us some Bean Pie. Someone had brought it to the family meal (after the funeral) and no one would try it because it was "bean pie". Daddy tried it (he'll try any new food at least once), and discovered that it was great! He brought us some of it to try and then also took some home to my mom. We tried it and was very surprised. It was very good. Dad is going to get the recipe for us.

Until then, I looked it up online to see if I could find a recipe for it. I found this one. I know it had beans in it, and coconut. I don't know if it had nuts though, I didn't taste any....I may try to play with this recipe and see if I can make it healthier. :)

PINTO BEAN PIE

1 c. beans, pinto beans
1 c. coconut
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 unbaked pie shell
Cream butter, sugar, eggs and stir in coconut. Mash beans, whip well all ingredients. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Armed and Dangerous!

Warning: if you come to my house, and it is dark outside and I don't know your coming, you will be met at the door with a loaded gun. (Sorry Daddy!) :)

Here is the story: My daddy had a funeral on Monday, so on his way home he stopped by our house, only I didn't know he was coming by (he thought my Mom had told me he was coming by, and she thought he was going to call me if he had the time to stop by). Anyway, Stephen was working until 8pm that night, so I was at home alone with the boys. I was sitting on the couch folding clothes, and I heard someone bang on the back door. The boys yelled "Daddy" and started to take off running. But I stopped them and said "no, Daddy isn't getting off until 8pm, it's not daddy. Stay where you are, and do not go near the backdoor". So I walked over to the wall there by the backdoor and yelled "Who is it?" but got no answer (or course the washer and dryer are both running, and they are right by the back door). So I yelled it again, and no answer. So I told the boys to stay put, and I ran and got the gun out of the safe, loaded it and had it ready. I then went back to that wall, and yelled as load as I could (since the washer and dryer were still running) "WHO IS IT?" Then I hear this "it's me" and I'm thinking "oh that helps!" haha...so I peak around the corner to look through the glass on the back door and saw my Daddy there. Whew! What a relief. After I let him in, I went and put the gun back in the safe and I was then shaking from head to toe from the adrenaline rush I guess. Scared me to death!!! All I could think was I knew it wasn't Stephen, and here we are in the middle of no-where, and I had babies to protect.

Afterwards it scared me even more though, thinking I had a loaded gun and it was just my daddy. Guess I've been watching/reading to many suspense filled stories! haha Good thing Stephen has taught me how to use my gun though, and how to keep it pointed down and never put your finger on the trigger until you are absolutely ready to shoot. Otherwise if something scares you and you jump you might accidentally pull the trigger.

So I told Stephen about all of this that night and he was cracking up laughing! He said I actually did everything right. I made sure my kids were back and safe, and then I actually loaded the weapon and had it ready in case I needed to use it. He then asked "did Toby bark?" I said "no, I guess that should have told me that it was someone safe huh." He said "No, Toby could have been the first victim". I said "Oh thanks a lot for giving me that to think about!" He said luckily I was smart and asked questions first. He then cracked up laughing again and said I bet your Dad calls you the next time he comes up to the backdoor though! haha :)

Stephen learned this a long time ago. Right after we got married. We lived on 15 acres of woods. One morning around 5am, he left for work, but got out to his truck and realized he left his keys and phone in the house. And keep in mind that he would come home from work and would find me sitting in the bed with a gun beside me, because I was scared to be out there by myself (we had heard stories of a possible marijuana patch on the land behind us). So anyway, he is thinking "how am I going to wake her up without scaring her to death?" If I knock on the window she will freak out, so I better knock on the door. So here he is banging on our front door, while standing off to the side, because he knows I will be coming to the door with a loaded shotgun. Sure enough, I wake up scared to death. Load my shotgun, and go to the front door. I get to the door and hear him yelling "It's Me, Kandy It's Me, Don't Shoot!" haha.. We both still get a good laugh out of this story.

So needless to say, if anyone ever breaks into my house and I am here, he will be shot...multiple times! :)

Valentine's Day

Ok, so I'm a little behind on my posts... :)

On Valentine's Day Levi had a party at school, and I took ice cream and helped serve the kids. I also have the FCA deliver him a carnation and card from me and Daddy. (they sent home a flyer about it, and it was only $2, but it made his day!)
Then after the party (which was at the end of the school day) we went to the store. We bought stuff to make daddy a nice dinner of Turkey Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Salad, and Sugar Free Dutch Apple Pie and Choc Covered Strawberries (he isn't nuts about chocolate, so I got the pie as a just in case). Then we came home, made dinner, got the house cleaned up and candles lit.

When Stephen got home, we had his valentines sitting in his chair waiting for him. The boys made him cards, and I gave him a card with a receipt for a years subscription to "log home living magazine" and then a gift bag filled with two exercise shirts and two pairs of shorts. He loved it!

He handed the boys their valentine's when he walked in. He brought them both some little hearts filled with chocolate, and some cool sport bottles that were filled with candy necklaces. Talk about making their day! They were ecstatic!

Then he handed me mine. It was a Starbucks gift basket! Filled with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, a Starbucks mug, and some cookies (that I gave to the boys). So I open it up, and pull out the mug, and I see something inside of it! It was a new Motorola Bluetooth Earpiece!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!!! I was so excited!!!! Since I am now doing training over the phone, while on the computer, I need my hands free...and also I can talk on the phone while driving, hands-free now! Woo-Hoo!!! Stephen made my day! I was so excited!!! Oh, and I am now addicted to the Starbucks Coffee! That stuff is GREAT!

So needless to say, we had a GREAT Valentine's day!

Basketball

We spent ALL day Saturday at Levi's Basketball tournament. He had a game at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and then 4pm. Luckily they didn't win the game at 4pm, or we would have had another one at 7pm. Who ever heard of a double elimination tournament for Kindergarten?! Yikes! We were all worn out when it was over. But he had a blast!
The highlight of his day was getting that 2nd place trophy. It is really big, and he thought he had just won the best prize in the world! His little face lit up! Seth told him "Wow, Weevi, you're a Superstar!" ha-ha It was priceless! :)
I'll update with pictures soon. Right now I've got to feed these boys dinner.
Later!

Evening by the Lake

On Saturday evening, we took the boys over to Chuck E Cheese and let them play some games. Then we went on over to the lake, to go to dinner. There are a lot of restaruants right on the water, and they have these huge fountains out there, and even a little water fall. They boys love seeing all of the water. It was a beautiful evening and the weather was in the low 60's.

Stephen took these pictures of me and the boys with his phone.

Spring....

Today, Feb 4th, it is 82 degrees! WOW! Talk about feeling like Spring. I have had all of the windows open today, airing out the house. I just love the smell of the fresh air filling up the house. It is so relaxing and energizing all at the same time.

Yesterday it was in the 70's and sunny. It was so nice that we played basketball outside with the kids during the afternoon and I even washed my van! (which was LONG overdue! I had forgotten what color was buried underneath all of that dirt!)

I just love this weather though. It makes me long for Spring to actually be here, so it will be like this everyday. This is perfect camping weather! :)

In other news....Levi had 2 basketball games on Saturday. They lost the 9am game. However, they made a huge comeback and won the second game! We have now won 3 games and lost 2.
