The Relay went GREAT! At last count, we raised over $50,000 for the fight against Cancer.
Our team captain got there early to start setting up, and as the rest of could get there, we helped. I got there around 5pm, and brought ice for our Palm Tree Coolers, to keep the drinks cold. We sold cokes, Monster Energy Drinks, little luau duckies, and glow necklaces. We also gave anyone who purchased, a free lea.
We had a schedule and were going to take turns walking, but we soon discovered that it was more fun to walk together, and talk while we walked (it made the time go by faster). We walked off/on (rotating out) from 7pm until around 5am. By then we were all worn out. We sent one of our members home, who was prego with Twins. By this time, we went over and got some breakfast (muffin), and then started cleaning up our campsite. We were all so exhausted, we were ready to have it all cleaned up and ready to go as soon as this was over. So we started cleaning up, and noticed other teams were already leaving. So instead of doing the closing ceremony at 6:30am, they ended up doing it at 5:30am. So we finished cleaning up, and left by 6am. I drove the 30 minute drive home, and was literally hitting myself in the face, hard, just to stay awake, and keep my eyes open. Luckily there wasn't any traffic out, but man, what a long drive home! Once I walked in the door, my hubby sent me to bed. I told him I needed to stay up, because Levi wanted me to go to his t-ball game, but he said Levi would understand that I needed to sleep. So I crawled in bed at 7am and slept until they got home from the t-ball game at 11:30am. I then got up. I was sore and exhausted. I pretty much just laid around and did nothing for the rest of the day. (hence the reason the boys were bringing me flowers to cheer me up..since they thought I must be sick since I wasn't my normal self). :) But it was so worth it! I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Here was our campsite. We won 1st place for most creative/decorated campsite! yea!!! This got us FREE registration for Next Year! :)

Our Team Name was H2O: Helping 2 Overcome. So we went with a "Water" theme, and did a luau. I think it turned out really cute!
On of the girls on our Team designed our T-shirts. She did a GREAT job! Here is a photo of the front. The back said "Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back."

I did this in Remembrance of my Papaw (my Mom's Daddy). He battled cancer long and hard, but wasn't able to overcome it. God decided to take him on home to heaven, and relieve his pain and suffering, back in July 2006. We all miss him, but I'm very blessed to know that he IS in heaven and I WILL see him again someday.
